History of the Mashpee Community Concert Committee
Our Mission
The mission of the MCCC was to promote the enjoyment of music, musical education foster a greater public appreciation of music through the annual “Mashpee Pops” concert. The Mashpee Community Concert Committee is committed to bringing music, art and theater to the children of Mashpee.
What We Did
The Mashpee Community Concert Committee, Inc. were the producers of "Mashpee Pops". Mashpee Pops was ‘born’ in 1987 sponsored and presented by Mashpee Commons. In 1992,
the Mashpee Arts Council, Inc. and the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce paired together to present the concert. The present day Mashpee Community Concert Committee, Inc. (MCCC) emerged from this group.
In 1993, local businessman Earle M. Marsters, Sr., made a bequest to MCCC and Mashpee Pops to ensure the continuation of this event for the benefit of the community. The ultimate goal is to create a permanent home. The ultimate goal is to create a permenanet endowment to underwrite the cost of community programs like the Pops.
What We Do
In 1997, the first $10,000 scholarship was awarded to a graduating Mashpee High School Senior planning to study the fine, applied, creative or performing arts, or prepare for a career related to community, civic, or public service. In 1998, the scholarship fund received a generous donation from the Yanoff family in memory of Donna Lynn Yanoff. The scholarship was renamed the ‘Donna Lynn Yanoff Memorial Scholarship’. Then in 2017, The Mashpee Pops Merit Scholarship was established. It is awarded on a case by case basis on the individual merit of the student(s). Potential recipients of the award will come from the pool of applicants for the DLYM Scholarship. Typically $1,00 to $$2,000 - one time Scholarship. The scholarships are presented to the recipient(s) on the night of the Mashpee High School Award Ceremony.
Organizations We Support
